The Witch and the Rose by Trae Dorn - on sale now!

3DO To Go / 3DOh No!

3DO To Go was a series of bite sized videos about the oft forgotten 3DO console of the mid-nineties. The series was mostly reviews of games along with the occasional specials detailing interesting trivia and history of the 3DO. Produced in partnership with the now defunct 'Rising Stuff' import website, Season One was released between November 2008 and April 2009.

3DOh No! is a new let's play series started December 2016 in conjunction with Nerd & Tie.

3DOh No!: Shock Wave (1994)
3DOh No!: Shock Wave (1994)On this episode of 3DOh No! Trae tackles the classic 1994 Electronic Arts title "Shock Wave." Of course, since this is 3DOh No!, it's the Japanese version he has to struggle through... and he's rather terrible at the game.

This is a shorter episode because of it.

3DOh No!: Theme Park
3DOh No!: Theme ParkOn this episode of 3DOh No!, Trae tackles a Japanese import copy of Electronic Arts' "Theme Park" (1995). Because even though the game was originally made in English, that's not the version we ended up with.

And, as such, chaos ensues.

3DOh No!: Theatre Wars - Goraku no Dendou
3DOh No!: Theatre Wars - Goraku no DendouIn this installment of 3DOh No!, Trae tries out the Japanese game "Theatre Wars: Goraku no Dendou" (1994). It's apparently a Theatre/Theater management sim by "Hamlet" for the 3DO, and the game is just as realistic as you'd expect it to be.

I other words, "not very."

3DOh No!: Montana Jones
3DOh No!: Montana JonesWelcome to the first installment of 3DOh No!, a Let’s Play series where Trae takes a 3DO game and plays it with zero foreknowledge of what the heck it is. On this episode, he tackles the 1995 game "Montana Jones," which is apparently based on an kid’s knock-off Indiana Jones anime series. Also the whole game is in Japanese.

And Trae doesn’t speak Japanese.

This was a terrible idea.

3DO To Go: Paddock Note '95
3DO To Go: Paddock Note '95In this entry into the ongoing depths of the strange world of gaming that is the 3DO, I look at Paddock Note '95, a Horse Racing Simulation. It was released in 1995 by Fuji Television and was a Japanese only release. Because of that though, the entire game is in Japanese... a language I neither speak nor read.

3DO To Go: FIFA International Soccer
3DO To Go: FIFA International SoccerIn this installment I pull out FIFA International Soccer which was released by Electronic Arts in 1994. It's the first game in their long running FIFA series of video games. Really, this is a game for people who want to play a game... about soccer.

3DO To Go: Pyramid Intruder
3DO To Go: Pyramid IntruderIn this episode I review Pyramid Intruder, a 1995 Japanese only release by Taito. Pyramid Intruder is one part remake, one part adaptation of Sega's LaserActive title Pyramid Patrol from 1993. A simple shoot-em-up, Pyramid Intruder is a flawed but fun import game.

3DO To Go: Importing From Japan
3DO To Go: Importing From JapanYour favorite show about 3DO retro gaming returns with our guide to importing from Japan. Why should you import Japanese games? Because how else could you try out some of the 3DO's least known titles? (Produced in association with Rising Stuff - which no longer exists so don't go there)

Known Japanese Games With Issues On American Systems:
Sword and Sorcery
Blue Forest Story
Twinkle Knights
Cradle Moon
Blue Chicago Blues
Also, the Japanese "Alone in the Dark" Demo is known to have problems.
3DO To Go: Zhadnost
3DO To Go: ZhadnostThis installment of the show now dubbed "3DO To Go" we look at "Zhadnost: The People's Party." It is a 2-4 player party game released in 1995 by Studio 3DO. Zhadnost is a game show with an ironic sense of humor with a Cold War twist.

This series of reviews is a joint project with Rising Stuff.
3DO Game Review: Escape From Monster Manor
3DO Game Review: Escape From Monster ManorIn this installment of 3DO Game Review I look at Electronic Art's 1993 First Person Shooter "Escape From Monster Manor" (also known in Japan as "Virtual Horror - Norowareta Yakata").

This series of reviews is a joint project with Rising Stuff.
3DO Game Review: Comparing 3DO Models
3DO Game Review: Comparing 3DO ModelsRather than review a game this week, I decided to take a look at the vast multitude of different 3DO models instead. Which 3DO should someone trying to get into this lost world of gaming attempt to track down?

This series of reviews is a joint project with Rising Stuff.
3DO Game Review: Samurai Shodown
3DO Game Review: Samurai Shodown In this installment of my ongoing series of 3DO Game Reviews I look at classic SNK fighter Samurai Shodown (aka Samurai Spirits). This particular port was published by Crystal Dynamics in 1993.

This series of reviews is a joint project with Rising Stuff.
3DO Game Review: Guardian War
3DO Game Review: Guardian WarIn this installment if my series of 3DO video game reviews I look at Guardian War (aka Powers Kingdom). Developed by Micro Cabin and released in 1994 by Panasonic, Guardian War is a Turned Based Strategy Role Playing Game.

This series of reviews is a joint project with Rising Stuff.
3DO Game Review: Total Eclipse
3DO Game Review: Total EclipseThis is the first entry in an ongoing series reviewing games for the under appreciated 3DO console. In this particular installment, we look at the 1993 Crystal Dynamics Rail shooter "Total Eclipse."

This series of reviews is a joint project with Rising Stuff.
